This game makes me happy in the pants. by lo-tech on April 24, 2009

This was the absolute first game that made me realize that a video game could take legitimate priority over, say... bathing and eating. Thematically, the game's cyber-punk style is great, albeit ripped straight from the pages of a William Gibson novel (Neuromancer, or Johnny Mnemonic if you haven't heard of the former), and I think it was probably the first rpg to combine magic and firearms in it's combat mode (Eat THAT, Final Fantasy, with your sissy "gunblade"). In fact, because it plays a little bit less like your typical rpg, and because the characters are not blue-haired cartoons, it was the game that actually got me into rpgs in the 90's. Play it! P.S. bmoritz is right. The Genesis version is WACK.

This game has just about every element you could want in a game. You have the ability to upgrade your equipment as well as learn magic along with gunplay and computer hacking! A good roleplayin game that is very original and in a class of its own.
All time favorite game! by bmoritz on September 28, 2008

Shadowrun goes down as my all-time favorite game on any system. It has a healthy mix of action, strategy (through the use of conversational hints that allow the game to progress) and RPG elements. The graphics were outstanding for the time period, and help to set the creepy, grimy atmosphere of the game. From an action standpoint, there is an outstanding mix of gun play, magic, and computer "hacking".

Bottom line, if you want a great game that will eat up hours of your time, yet keep you coming back for more, check out Shadowrun for the SNES. Don't be fooled by the Sega Genesis version. It's not the same caliber of game.
