A must-play for any RPG fan by Korius on August 8, 2008
Truly, a gem of the Mana series history. While recent games of the Mana series have rather been bland, the old-school still shine out brightly.
It's tough to say how this game starts off, because there 6 different characters to pick that can affect the story's outcome. For example, there are 3 different final bosses that you can fight depending on what character you chose as your main, which definitely adds a bit of replay value.
Now on to the battle system. It still takes some getting used to, but easy to understand. Like Secret of Mana, items and spells are sorted to menu wheels, and unlike Secret, you can just attack without having for to wait for 100% for a decent strike. It may be a bit soar to seasoned players, but it definintly takes alot of stress off of simpler players.
The major aspect of the combat is the classes each character has. Each class has there own arsenal of moves that change how your team fights. (for example, one person can weaken the enemies, while one powers your party up.) Basically there's a lot to do to turn a batlle in your favor.
While not perfect, it is a great game with decent challenge that I would reccomend for any RPG fan.
